What’s That Smell?

Citizens of Sumter County, more specifically the Lake Pan and Summerville areas where the landfill is closest, have been complaining about intense burning chemical and trash smells that make it impossible for residents to leave their homes. For some, the smell permeates into their home leaving them with no relief. So what is it?

The Heart of Florida Landfill is one of the largest by total daily waste accepted. Its growth over the last few years has lead to more trash, which leads to more stinky gases being released into our air.
